Quaker Chemical Names New Vice President and Chief Financial Officer; Current CFO Takes on Business Leadership Role
CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., July 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Ronald J. Naples, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Quaker Chemical Corporation (NYSE: KWR), today announced that Neal Murphy has joined the Company as a Vice President and will assume the Chief Financial Officer role on August 10, 2004, and that Michael Barry, the Company's current CFO, has assumed leadership of one of the Company's primary business units.
Mr. Murphy replaces Mr. Barry, who has served as Chief Financial Officer since joining Quaker in 1998. Mr. Barry has taken on a new key business leadership role as the Company's Vice President and Global Industry Leader - Industrial Metalworking and Coatings. He will head all of Quaker's non- automotive business worldwide and will drive a number of critical new product and new market growth initiatives for the Company. Mr. Barry came to Quaker after both financial and commercial experience at Lyondell (formerly ARCO Chemical).
As CFO, Mr. Murphy will have overall responsibility for global finance and information systems. He will provide leadership and strategic direction to the Company on all global financial, accounting, tax, audit, and information systems policies and practices. In addition, he will be responsible for compliance in external financial reporting, performance monitoring, investor relations, corporate development, and strategic planning.
Mr. Murphy brings over 25 years of finance, information technology, and commercial experience. Most recently, Mr. Murphy served as Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer at International Specialty Products (ISP), a global manufacturer of specialty chemicals. ISP is primarily focused in the pharmaceutical and personal care applications industries with revenues of about $1 billion. Prior to that, Mr. Murphy worked at PQ Corporation in various roles including Director of Tax, Corporate Controller, Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, and for his last two years, President, PQ Europe, located in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. PQ Corporation is a world leader in soluble silicates and engineered glass materials. Prior to that, Mr. Murphy also worked in public accounting at Coopers & Lybrand, which he left as Senior Manager.
