July 13, 2005 at 2:15 PM EDT

CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., July 13, 2005 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Quaker Chemical Corporation (NYSE: KWR) today announced it recently formed a new joint venture partnership in Italy, Quaker Automotive Italia, S.r.l., to focus exclusively on building its market position in the Italian automotive industry.

The venture has been established with a group of Italian businessmen who have over 50 years of experience in the Italian automotive industry. Our partners have longstanding relationships with the FIAT group and IVECO and have supplied components, primarily seat belts and safety equipment, to the automotive sector. They are also part of a family of associated companies in Italy called AIDAF. Quaker Automotive Italia is primarily a distribution company whose activities will be focused on the Italian automotive sector and associated component suppliers. The company's offices will be located in Chieri, outside of Turin. Quaker Italia, S.r.l. (formerly Eural S.r.l.) located in Tradate, Italy, will remain as a separate company and will continue to focus its activities in the industrial sector.

Ronald J. Naples, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, commented, "Quaker entered into this venture to gain entry into the Italian automotive sector, the third largest automotive market in Europe. We felt that the quickest and most efficient way to enter this market was through a partnership. It is our hope that the combination of our technology, application and service know-how, with our partners' knowledge of the market, will result in a very successful venture."

Quaker Chemical Corporation, headquartered in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, is a worldwide developer, producer, and marketer of custom-formulated chemical specialty products and a provider of chemical management services for manufacturers around the globe, primarily in the steel and automotive industries.
