Quaker Chemical Becomes a Leading Die Casting Lubricant Provider in the US; Acquires G.W. Smith & Sons Inc.

CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., Oct. 4, 2011 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ --

Quaker Chemical Corporation (NYSE: KWR) announced yesterday it acquired G.W Smith & Sons Inc. Based in Dayton, Ohio, G.W. Smith & Sons is a leading North American manufacturer and distributor of die cast lubricants, metalworking lubricants, and machining fluids that has been a leading innovator in the die cast lubricant industry for over 70 years.

Michael F. Barry, Quaker's CEO, commented, "G.W. Smith & Sons is an excellent strategic fit for Quaker, as it is complementary to our existing business. Many of our customers have die casting and related operations. We are excited about the prospect of offering G.W. G.W. Smith & Sons will operate as a stand-alone subsidiary of Quaker, and continue to be led by Victor Smith, Jr., President. Quaker will be able to offer its QUAKERCOOL® coolants, QUINTOLUBRIC® hydraulic fluids and specialty greases to G.W. Smith & Sons customers, while G.W. Smith & Sons will be able to offer their DIE SLICK® release agents, PLUNGER SLICK® plunger lubricants and HYDRO SLICK® machining fluids to Quaker customers.
