Quaker Chemical and Newgarden Strive For First Win In Fontana

October 18, 2013 at 5:48 PM EDT

CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., Oct. 18, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Sarah Fisher Hartman Racing (SFHR) with driver Josef Newgarden have scored 2nd and 5th place finishes in their last two IZOD IndyCar race weekends, and look to close out the 2013 season on a high note this Saturday night at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif.

Newgarden qualified fourth in Fontana last season, and ran well before mechanical trouble put him back to 16th at the finish, so a win in the MAVTV 500 IndyCar World Championships is a realistic goal for the greatly-improved Newgarden/SFHR tandem. Newgarden scored his first career podium this year at the Grand Prix of Baltimore in addition to top-five finishes in Brazil, Pocono and Houston.

"We've made huge gains this year, we did a lot of things well and made great progress," said Newgarden. "It'll be nice to go into the off-season and try to make that progress again. I'm looking forward to finishing the season on a high note with everyone at SFHR."

Quaker Chemical Corporation, an official sponsor and technical partner of Sarah Fisher Hartman Racing, will again back Newgarden's No. 67 SFHR Dallara/Honda/Firestone in Fontana as the team looks to finish the season strong.

"It was great to be part of Josef's top-five finishes and first career podium.  We are looking forward to another great finish from the Sarah Fisher Hartman Racing team to close out our 2nd season with IndyCar, and to see how our grease technology will help the SFHR car run for 500 miles on the Auto Club Speedway track," said Joseph Berquist, Quaker VP and Managing Director North America.

Newgarden enjoys the challenge of the Auto Club Speedway, 2-mile, high-speed, D-shaped oval Fontana track, but knows he'll have to be at the top of his game to bring home a win.

"I think Fontana is going to be a close race from everybody this year. The grease from Quaker will provide an added benefit of reduced rolling friction in the wheel bearing," Newgarden said.

The MAVTV 500 INDYCAR World Championships will air live on NBC Sports Network beginning at 8:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, October 19.  Qualifying will air on NBC Sports Network at 7:00 p.m. ET on Friday, October 18. For the latest trackside updates from SFHR, follow @SFHRindy on Twitter.
